Green Investing for Long Term Investors

My Great Web page

In this decade of increased awareness towards green investing technology, a demand for pollution free earth is the buzz word. There is no doubt that search for an alternative fuels which does not pollute our mother earth is required. The research work for development of greener technology is going on since ages, but global warming had never got its due importance since the last decade. Green Investing participation is required form Institutions, Government, Retail Investors, Funds etc. The kind of money required to develop green technology cannot come unless total participation of all types of investors are there. From the point of view of long term investment, green investing has its best entry point now. Green Investing strategy is not only going to make money for investors but is also going to save the mother earth.

The concept of green investing can also be made more popular if investor began to show more interest in companies which is concentrating more in reducing its contribution to global warming. Companies who can claim to be eligible for green investing are those companies who are using less carbon based fuels as compared to their competitors. These companies shall also focus on waste utilization and heat recovery before they can be demarcated as valid for green investing. These days there are companies whose impact on clean environment is so adverse they shall be called anti green investing companies and investors should boycott them for all valid reasons. In long run, all companies eligible for green investing; companies which has better fuel economics and waste utilization; will certainly make more money for its shareholders.

In this article we will not discuss about companies in particular rather we will focus on sectors which are seeing a strong motivation to become eligible for green investing. The present sectors more influenced by green investing revolution are Energy, Water and Waste Water, Advanced Materials, Manufacturing, Transportation and Agriculture. Out of all the above sectors, Energy sector is one segment of business which has seen a steep upsurge on green investing. Energy sector has invested in development of technologies like bio-diesel, clean coal, fuel cells, wind energy and solar energy.

Energy Sector and its dominance in Green Investing
This sector seems to be more driven towards green investing than any other business sectors. There are several contributing factors that has led to this drive the first and foremost is that directly or indirectly the energy sector is the biggest contributor to global warming. Manufacturing and Transportation sector is just the carrier of the blame, but actually it is the carbon based fuels which is producing CO2 resulting in global warming. The second reason for energy sector to start looking out for cleaner fuel was depletion of oil reserves on the world. It is not far when we will scarce fuel oil available in this world. This are two major reasons that is contributing towards green investing by this sector. Focus on green investing will not only save this business sector from being responsible for  global warming but will also save them form extinction in case oil dries out form this world.  World politicians have also contributed to green investing by creating awareness to wards global warming by organizing events like Kyoto Protocol. These reasons have led the energy sector to think differently and focus on green investing and development of cleaner fuels. This out of the box thinking & initiative of energy sector has made it possible to now produce green fuels like Solar, Wind, Bio-Fuels & Geothermal. Ultimately all businesses is run on economics and cleaner fuels will be more cost effective and will add value to green investing fraternity.

Energy > Green Investing in Solar Power
The main advantage of solar power is its available in abundance and it is practically pollution free. It also has its advantage over hydro power, solar energy can be tapped any where unlike hydro power which is available on in the vicinity of water reserves (dams). This is one reason why green investing fraternity is most bullish on this sector.

Energy > Green Investing in Wind Energy
As compared to solar energy, Wind has comparatively less reach. Because of inconsistency of wind, till today it looks very unlikely that wind energy is ever going to replace carbon based fuels in term of application. But green investing brains are still enthusiastic about Wind Energy growth. The reason being, it is still not even fraction developed as compared to its possibilities.

Energy > Green Investing in Biofuels
Biomass based power plants has become a common form of green investing. Bio-fuels are produced form the biomass. Biomass is produced and the most eco-friendly process. Biomass like cow manure, corn seeds, soybeans, sugar cane and palm oils are most common forms of biomass. These are processed to produce bio-fuels. As this biomass is a renewable source of energy hence it becomes most eligible for green investing.

Energy > Green Investing in Geothermal
Geothermal energy is perhaps the favorite all green investing enthusiasts. This is because it is available in abundant and can be obtained at any part of earths crust. Geothermal energy concept aims at utilizing the vast reserves of heat energy available in the earths crust. The reserve of energy in earths crust is so enormous that even a fraction of its can power this world for years. Utilization of Geothermal energy will find its green investing in abundance after some research work starts claiming its success in tapping this vast reserve of energy. Commercial and economical production will be the next step towards Geothermal based green investing.
